Persuade Ideas - Dealing With Stubborn People And How To Persuade Them
If you've continually needed to deal with or persuade a stubborn person, you appreciated how challenging it can be. Some people figure struggling with stubborn individuals is just not price levels the effort, but I'd lead to that is due to the fact that they're making an effort to persuade or arrangement with them just as properties would with people we can consider more "open minded". However, if we can can appreciate why some folks are so stubborn in the first place, we can develop a little effective persuasion strategies for wrestling with stubborn people. Persuade Ideas
Here are three main reasons why people are stubborn, along with some ideas on how to deal with them:
(1) Lack of information, understanding or knowledge:
I know someone - I'll call him Jack - who, not too long ago, stubbornly avoided the Internet like the plague, because he thought it was "a dangerous place". It took several months to ease Jack into it, like sharing little facts and articles about how to keep himself secure on the Internet. After a while he quietly changed his opinion. Of course, being a stubborn person, he never admitted he was wrong, or apologized - but that's fine with me, because now he's a happy Internet user, and I'm happy to leave his dignity intact... which brings me to... Persuade Ideas
(2) Pride:
Stubborn people like to be right all the time - and if they're proved wrong, they will find a way to make what they originally said right. When it comes to dealing with stubborn people, it's important NOT to tell them that they're wrong. That will just shut them off from being receptive to you and your ideas. To get them to consider and even accept your point of view, you'll need to do it in such a way that they can retain their dignity, and still feel they were right in some way. Persuade Ideas
For instance, Jack avoided the Internet for the right reason at the time - because he considered it a dangerous place. And we normally avoid danger, don't we?
